The Band

StereoTypical were formed in late 2007, primarily by vocalist and guitarist Robert Shaw (a.k.a. Bob) and bassist Adam Lacey, after the splitting of their old band. Long-time friend, and short-time drummer, Thomas Dulieu (a.k.a. TD) then joined and everything else just followed from there. All three members share a love of rock music in all its varieties, and a plethora of other genres too, however, they settled on Alternative Rock as their main style, and have tried recently to stay as true to that description as possible.

Over the next year or so, time was spent rehearsing tirelessly and doing the occasional show, before an extended experiment in recording ensued. Things really started properly, though, in early 2009, with a series of gigs, as far afield as High Wycombe. It was at this point StereoTypical made their radio debut on ten-17 radio, and then BBC Three Counties Radio. A newspaper article "there is more than a sniff of genius here".

The most notable of these was at the Memorial Hall in their hometown, Sawbridgeworth. It was a self-promoted event that attracted approximately 150 people, and was a huge success, with local talent The Taunts supporting. After this, by far the best was StereoTypical's appearance at the Stortford Music Festival, in the Club Blub tent, attracting similar amounts to the Memorial Hall gig. At the time, local journalists described them as "bonkers, but brilliant" and one reviewer went so far as to say that "[he has] seen few bands in such a fledgling state of their career with quite so much promise".

Various commitments, and trouble with transportation, meant that extensive gigging was difficult, but this was no obstacle. More time was spent writing and rehearsing new material, until it was felt the time was right to go into a professional recording studio. And so the StereoTypical EP was born. Now it's the new year, 2010, and the future is only looking brighter than ever before.
